An apparatus for the controlled ventilation of a room has a control mechanism, which includes a quantity control and measurement means, and is incorporated in a ventilation duct portion. The control mechanism includes a tubular, hollow body in the form of a flow body which has two pressure measuring chambers arranged successively in flow direction. The chambers are provided with rows of openings which produce a connection to flow-through cross-sections of the control mechanism which have different airflow speeds. The airflow is measured by means of a differential pressure detector, which is connected to the pressure measuring chambers by means of two short passages. The apparatus has a low airflow loss and a low flow noise. As a result of its favourable flow guidance, the apparatus may be positioned directly adjacent to branching points of a ventilation duct.
