Abstract of the Disclosure Apparatus is disclosed for the manufacture of sausages of the same length and the same weight in a common sausage casing. It includes a filling pump for filling the sausage mix into a stuffing tube onto which the loose sausage casing is pulled, a braking and twisting device arranged on the free end of the stuffing tube for the holding back and twisting of the loose sausage casing with respect to the filled sausages, and a conveyor device arranged behind the twisting device for the further conveying and holding of the filled sausages against twisting. The conveyor device acts on the filled sausages from the outside by a plurality of supporting members movable in the direction of conveyance and being adapted to be driven with adjustable speed. The supporting members of the conveyor device transverse to the direction of conveyance form a uniform supporting surface which is maintained free of projections such as dividing members. The twisting device is inter- mittently controllable as a function of the amount of sausage which has been introduced in the meantime. Along the linear path of conveyance or removal of the sausage casing there is provided a cutting device for dividing a sausage chain at the twist constrictions, which device is actuatable syn- chronously with the twisting device and can be set at a distance from the twisting station which corresponds to or is a multiple of the selected length of sausage.
