ABSTRACT An apparatus for the liquefaction and removal of solid or highly viscous products from barrels includes: (a) a heating chamber including an open vessel having a bottom with a selectively closeable drainage means for liquid products, a removable cover for closing the vessel and heating means for selectively heating the vessel; and (b) a support structure in the vessel for supporting open barrels in a top down position. In prior art apparatus for the liquefaction and removal of solid or high viscosity materials contained in barrels, the barrels must, after heating of their contents, be handled and drained in separate processing steps. With the apparatus of the invention, it is possible to drain the heated contents of the barrels in fewer processing steps and without the possibly harmful vapors of the heated products escaping to ambient.
