ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The apparatus has a bell-shaped carrying frame (1-3), the wall (3) of which has large-area openings or passages (4) therethrough. The carrying frame (1-3) is surrounded by a rubber-elastic membrane or envelope (6) to thereby form a hood. A suction line connection (5) is provided for the hood. The apparatus is slipped over a woman's nipple, and an intermittent reduced pressure is induced in the interior of the apparatus by a pump. The rubber-elastic membrane (6) is drawn inward through the openings (4) by the inter- mittent reduced pressure, and in so doing acts inter- mittently on the breast nipple and its environment. A gentle, soft pressing and sucking of the nipple is thereby provided to yield the desired stimulation to produce hormones and other substances useful in accelerating labor in a pregnant woman, for example.
