ABSTRACT Apparatus for the treatment of seed comprising a rotary, substantially cylindrical horizontal drum rotatable about its axis in which there is the bed of seed to be treated. Means are provided for distributing the charge or the treatment agent. Within the drum are mounted blades for stirring the bed of seed during the treatment. The blades are mounted in at least one pair of vertical rows of blades of opposite direction: a) creating a central passage for the seed to flow through b) inclined relative to the axis of rotation of the drum c) with two neighbouring blades belonging to each of the rows subtending an angle diverging outwardly d) one of the rows being offset angularly relative to the other, and e) the blades being at a certain distance from the cylindrical wall.
