ABSTRACT In a microwave treatment tunnel (1), a conveyor for food articles in a sealed state inside tray-like packages is provided with a plurality of recesses (14) shaped to match the shape of the containers and having a side wall (15) formed from aluminum or another similar metal. At said side wall (15), the vector E tangential components of the electromagnetic field may be cancelled to lower the article heating temperature in regions close to the edge of the respective container.
