An apparatus for transmitting a movement and/or a force comprises a guide means and a transmission element mounted displaceably in the guide means in a condition of guiding engagement therein in positively locking relationship. The movement and/or force is transmitted along a guide length determined by the ends of the guide means. The guide length is adapted to be variable between the ends of the guide means by release of the guiding engagement along a given portion of the guide length.
