Abstract of the Disclosure The proposed apparatus for treating a cellulosic material with a gaseous agent comprises a vessel with means for introdu- cing the pulp and the gaseous agent there~into and withdrawing them there~from. The vessel is further provided with a false bottom arranged at an angle of 1 to 40° to the horizontal and inclined towards the pulp outlet. The chamber formed by the false bottom and the vessel bottom is divided by transverse walls into a plurality of isolated compartments, each being co- nected with a respective means for introducing the gaseous agent. Above each compartment, there is located a level pickup constituting a part of a means for controlling the level of the pulp layer. Each pickup is operatively associated, via a corresponding gas flow meter, with a corresponding means for introducing the gaseous agent. The proposed apparatus permits cellulosic material of any consistency to be treated with the gaseous agent, ensures maximum contact therebetween by using the energy of the gaseous agent to transfer the pulp being treated in the vessel.
