Abstract Apparatus for controlled injection of treatment solution into slaughtered animals has a container for holding the solution, a control valve connected to the container, a header connected to the control valve and a conduit connected to the header for recirculating solution from the header to the container. A pressure sensor is positioned adjacent the junction of the header and the recirculating conduit and is connected by a control line to the control valve so that pressure downstream of the control valve is kept steady. A dispensing conduit is connected to the header for dispensing the solution into the slaughtered animal at controlled pressure. With this arrangement, the injection solution is delivered at a consistent controlled pressure to avoid incomplete distribution throughout the animal or rupture of the animal's blood vessels. Preferably, the solution is sup- plied to the animal under the control of a computer to which data is fed relating to the type and weight of the animal so that the appropriate quantity of solution is flowed to the animal.
