The invention relates to a device and a computer program for material processing, particularly refractive eye surgery, which works with a pulsed femtosecond laser, wherein single burn points are positioned in such a manner that the distances between adjacent burn points vary substantially, in order to avoid a grid structure which causes regular, undesired diffraction.
