An apparatus for use in setting production slips, includes a body having a pair of arms positioned on a common plane. The pair of arms are adapted to engage an upper peripheral edge of a casing bowl. The pair of arms being separated by a pipe receiving channel which extends in from a peripheral edge of the body between the pair of arms and is adapted to accommodate a pipe, while the pair of arms support the production slips. Gripping members are provided on the body. The gripping members enable the body to be gripped and pulled from the casing bowl in order to cause the production slips to fall by force of gravity and wedge the pipe in the casing bowl.
