A carriage for a person which may be attached to a transporting means, said carriage comprising: a) a frame b) means attached to the frame for holding the torso of the person in an essentially vertical position; and c) a thigh retaining means, said thigh retaining means comprising first and second strap attachment means secured to the frame, said first attachment means being positioned above a first thigh of the person when the thigh retaining means is engaged and said second strap attachment means being positioned above a second thigh of the person when the thigh retaining means is engaged, a first strap attached to said first strap attachment means, and when the thigh retaining means is engaged, passing under said first thigh and up to and attached to the second strap attachment means, and a second strap attached to the second strap attachment means, and when the thigh retaining means is engaged, passing under said second thigh and up to and attached to the first strap attachment means, so that when the straps are so attached, the thighs of the person are held in a substantially horizontal position. The carriage desirably further comprises the embodiment wherein the frame comprises two legs, each of the legs being provided with an essentially vertical central portion, an inwardly directed top portion and a horizontal lower portion, said legs being hinged together by a hinge proximate ends of their top portions, said lower portions being provided with concave arcs relative to each other such that an approximate ellipse is defined by said arcs. said arcs being padded and sized to engage the upper torso of said person about the sides of the persons chest below the arms, when the thigh retaining means is engaged, said hinge permitting the lower portions of the legs to be moved away from each other to permit the arcs to be easily positioned about the chest of the person and to permit the legs to be easily moved toward each other to permit the arcs to engage sides of the chest of the person when the carriage is in use, said hinge being further provided with a means to permit attachment to the transporting means.
Attelage pour une personne pouvant être attaché à un moyen de transport, ledit attelage comprenant: a) un bâti b) un moyen attaché au bâti pour maintenir le torse de la personne dans une position essentiellement verticale; et c) un moyen de retenue des cuisses, ledit moyen de retenue des cuisses comprenant un premier et un deuxième moyen d'attache à courroies fixés au bâti, ledit premier moyen d'attache étant placé au-dessus d'une première cuisse de la personne quand le moyen de retenue des cuisses est engagé et ledit deuxième moyen d'attache étant placé au-dessus d'une deuxième cuisse de la personne quand le moyen de retenue des cuisses est engagé, une première courroie attachée audit premier moyen d'attache à courroies, et quand le moyen de retenue des cuisses est engagé, passant sous ladite première cuisse et remontant au deuxième moyen d'attache à courroies pour s'y attacher,et une deuxième courroie attachée au deuxième moyen d'attache à courroies, et quand le moyen de retenue des cuisses est engagé, passant sous ladite deuxième cuisse et remontant au premier moyen d'attache pour s'y attacher, de sorte que lorsque les courroies sont ainsi attachées, les cuisses de la personne sont maintenues dans une position substantiellement horizontale. L'attelage comprend de préférence l'application dans laquelle le bâti comporte deux pattes, chacune des pattes étant munie d'une partie centrale essentiellement verticale, d'une partie supérieure dirigée vers l'intérieur et d'une partie inférieure horizontale, lesdites pattes étant assemblées l'une à l'autre au moyen d'une articulation près du bout de leur partie supérieure, lesdites parties inférieures comportant des arcs concaves l'une par rapport à l'autre, de sorte qu'une ellipse approximative est définie par lesdits arcs, ceux-ci étant matelassés et dimensionnés de manière à être en contact avec le torse supérieur de ladite personne sur les côtés de la poitrine de la personne, sous les bras, quand le moyen de retenue des cuisses est engagé, ladite articulation permettant à la partie inférieure des pattes de s'éloigner l'une de l'autre pour permettre de placer facilement les arcs de chaque côté de la poitrine de la personne et de déplacer facilement les pattes l'une vers l'autre de sorte que les arcs puissent se placer contre les côtés de la poitrine de la personne quand l'attelage est utilisé, ladite articulation étant en outre dotée d'un moyen permettant de l'attacher au moyen de transport.
