ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This relates to an apparatus for utilizing post consumer polyester resin such as PET (PCPET) which is provided in the flake state and which will contain certain contaminents. A screen pack is utilized to remove the solid contaminents from the molten thermoplastic resin top eliminate the more costly prior extrusion of the PCPET through a screen pack and the chopping thereof into pellets. Since the pressure of the molten polyester resin passing through the screen pack is much less than that required for the injection molding of a preform, the molten resin passing through the screen pack is first directed into a pot by way of a rotary valve which is then set to permit the delivery of the molten resin from the pot into the mold cavity. Suitable apparatus is also provided for blending PCPET with virgin PET (VPET) to first provide a desire blend of PCPET and VPET, after which the IV of this blend is increased by the selected addition of additional VPET.
