ABSTRACT An apparatus for using water as an energy source. The apparatus has at least one hollow body which operates in an upward and downward vertical direction under the influence of water from a first upper reservoir. This water fills the hollow body to move it downwardly into a second lower water reservoir on which it had been floating. When a valve at the bottom end of the elongated hollow body is opened, the body quickly moves upwardly to its floating position. The upward and downward movement of the hollow body is converted into rotational movement of an output shaft. The output shaft rotates in one direction at all times in response to both the upward and downward movement of the hollow body. The entire apparatus is arranged in a unitary modular form so that the modules can be stacked to increase the desired power output.
