ABSTRACT Apparatus for winding up without using a core a web section which has been torn along a transverse perforation line from a web which is continuously supplied and provided with spaced apart transverse perforation lines, whereby supply rolls are formed, comprises two winding stations, which are provided in a machine frame and comprise winding pins, which are rotatably mounted and connected to rotary drive means and are extensible to a winding position, in which they protrude freely and are spread relative to each other, and retractable to a non-spread position, wherein the web extends between the winding pins of one winding station when the web section is wound up in the other winding station and when the web is to be taken over by other winding station the winding pins of said other station are extended from their retracted position to their extended position in which they hold the web between themselves. Each winding station comprises on each side of the web two winding pins, which are substantially aligned with each other and which perform spreading movements relative to each other in parallel planes and which in a direction which is transverse to said planes are at a distance from each other which is sufficient to permit the web to move freely between said winding pins.
