ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for use in a fluidized bed reactor for removal of coarse material is disclosed. It comprises a substantially vertical pipe connected with an outlet opening in the bottom of the reactor, and a discharge opening located at a level below the level of the outlet opening. Pressurized air is supplied in short pulses into the space connecting the pipe and the discharge opening.
