APPARATUS INCLUDING SYSTEM CONTROL OF MOTOR TEMPERATURE Abstract of the Disclosure The method and apparatus for controlling the temperature of elements in an apparatus and particularly mail processing apparatus includes temperature sensors such as thermistors arranged in juxtaposition with the elements to provide temperature information to a central motor control. If the temperature of an element is determined to be excessive, the system throughput may be reduced by the motor controller to lower the temperature of the element until the situation is corrected. The advantage is that there is no requirement to maximize the tolerances of the element for all expected worse case conditions. The invention also enables reduced performance even with the failure of other system components such as cooling fans without endangering the motors and other elements.
