Abstract of the Disclosure The breath protector is adapted to be worn by trotters and pacers and includes a self-supporting cover and a means for mounting the cover between a position over the muzzle for a horse and a position spaced from the muzzle of the horse. A release means for releasing the cover from about the muzzle is actuated by the driver via a cable which extends over the head of the horse. A suitable locking means is provided under the horse's head to secure the cover in the retracted position.
