The present invention provides apparatus, kits and methods for assaying analytes using photoelectrochemical molecules as labels. Specifically, the present invention provides a method for assaying an analyte, comprising: a) contacting a sample suspected of containing an analyte with a reactant capable of binding and/or reacting with the analyte under suitable conditions to allow binding of analyte, if present in the sample, to the reactant; and b) assessing binding and/or reacting between the analyte and the reactant to determine presence and/or amount of analyte in the sample, wherein the reactant, analyte, or additional reactant or additional analyte or analyte analog is labeled with a photoelectrochemically active molecule. The assessing step also comprises converting the photoelectrochemically active molecule with light to an excited state in the presence of an electrode, and assessing an electric current generated by an electron transfer between the excited photoelectrochemically active molecule and the electrode.
La présente invention se rapporte à un appareil, à des trousses et à des procédés permettant de mettre à l'essai des analytes au moyen de molécules photoélectrochimiques utilisées en tant que marqueurs. La présente invention se rapporte spécifiquement à un procédé de mise à l'essai d'un analyte, qui consiste: a) à mettre en contact un échantillon suspecté de contenir un analyte avec un réactif capable de se lier et/ou de réagir avec ledit analyte dans des conditions appropriées pour permettre la liaison de l'analyte, dans le cas où il est présent dans l'échantillon, au réactif; et b) à évaluer la liaison et/ou la réaction entre l'analyte et le réactif afin de déterminer la présence et/ou la quantité d'analyte dans l'échantillon, ledit réactif, ledit analyte ou le réactif supplémentaire ou l'analyte supplémentaire ou l'analogue de l'analyte étant marqué par une molécule photoélectrochimiquement active. L'étape d'évaluation consiste également à faire passer la molécule photoélectrochimiquement active, avec de la lumière, à un état excité, en présence d'une électrode, et à déterminer un courant électrique généré par un transfert d'électrons entre la molécule photoélectrochimiquement active excitée et l'électrode.
