A household appliance, such as a washer or dryer, includes a housing and a control assembly mounted on the housing. The assembly includes a control mounting member. A switch assembly mounted thereon includes push button switch actuators arranged within a contiguous area. A cover member is mounted in juxtaposed overlying relationship with the mounting member and includes a recessed area with an opening therein aligned with and encompassing the contiguous area of the switch actuators. The switch actuators extend into the opening in the cover member and a thin, flexible sheet is mounted in the recess so that selected switch actuators are activated by depressing corresponding portions of the sheet.
