An appliance which provides a directed flow of heat from a nozzle for the treatment of dental prostheses such as bridges, crowns, and saddles is known. To cure a coating of plastic on a dental prosthesis, especially on a dental prosthesis which has a complicated surface structure, the appliance for solidifying a coating of plastic on the dental prosthesis has a device which generates a stream of air which is heated by a heating coil and which emerges from the nozzle. The cross-sectional profile of the temperature of this stream at a certain distance from the nozzle is such that the temperature of the stream of air is lower in the center than it is in outer areas.
