This invention provides a simple, low cost product and method for containing fiber insulation for application to appliances. The invention comprises a combination of an appliance, fiber insulation layer applied to the exterior surface of a wall of the appliance and a metal foil layer adhesively bonded to the outside of the fiber layer. This combination is conveniently formed by adhesively bonding the fiber layer to the metal foil, then applying the fiber layer to the exterior surface of the wall of the appliance. The invention provides the advantage that in the appliance final assembly, the fiber layer is contained between the surface of the wall of the appliance and the metal foil layer. Optionally, the fiber is contained between two or more layers of metal foil, whereby one of the metal foil layers is in contact with the wall of the appliance. Additionally, the metal foil layers employed in this invention are preferably multilayer metal foil materials.
La présente invention concerne un produit simple et peu coûteux et un procédé d'encapsulation d'un isolant fibreux destiné à l'application sur des appareils. Cette invention associe un appareil, une couche d'isolant fibreux appliquée sur la surface extérieure d'une des parois de l'appareil et une couche de feuille métallique fixée par adhérence sur l'extérieur de la couche fibreuse. On obtient cette combinaison de façon pratique en fixant d'abord la couche fibreuse sur la feuille métallique, et en appliquant ensuite la couche fibreuse sur la surface extérieure de la paroi de l'appareil. L'avantage de cette invention réside dans le fait qu'à la phase d'assemblage final de l'appareil, la couche fibreuse est disposée entre la surface de la paroi de l'appareil et la couche de feuille métallique. Eventuellement, la couche fibreuse peut être disposée entre deux couches de feuille métallique ou plus, l'une de ces deux couches de feuille métallique étant en contact avec la paroi de l'appareil. Par ailleurs, les couches de feuille métallique utilisées dans cette invention sont de préférence des matériaux de feuille métallique multicouches.
