Apparatus for reducing pump cavitation noise generated by a drain pump attached to a liquid-receiving basin of an appliance such as a washing machine or dishwasher. In preferred form, the apparatus comprises a member for retaining an amount of liquid in a drain conduit 22 that connects the pump to the liquid-receiving basin to form a barrier to cavitation noise passing from the pump through a portion of the drain conduit 22.

La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif servant à réduire le bruit de cavitation produit par une pompe d'épuisement raccordée à une cuve d'appareil électroménager tel une lessiveuse ou un lave-vaisselle. Dans une configuration préférée, le dispositif en question comporte un élément servant à retenir une certaine quantité de liquide à l'intérieur d'un conduit d'évacuation (22) reliant la pompe à la cuve contenant le liquide, faisant ainsi office de barrière au bruit de cavitation provenant de la pompe à travers le conduit d'évacuation. (22).
