-24- ABSTRACT An appliance aiding couples having sexual intercourse on a bed comprises a first part (20, Fig.1) fixable to the bed and a second part (20) upstanding from the first part and being a padded footboard (24) with two depending legs (26) received in the first part, the position of the footboard being adjustable relative to the first part to enable the height of the footboard to be varied. The first part (20) may comprise a framework releasably fixed to the bed, beneath the bed, and with elements for bearing on a floor upon which the bed stands. The relative positions of the elements of the framework are adjustable and they may be fixed in adjusted positions to clamp the appliance on ends or sides of beds of different lengths and widths and used with beds of different heights. In a preferred embodiment the framework has two subframes (30; 32) each with a pair of elongate members (34; 54) supported in parallel one with the other and spaced apart by cross members (36, 38, 42, 44, 46; 56, 58). The elongate members have upstanding members (57, 65) on their outer ends and two bolt members (66) interconnect cross members (38; 58) of the two subframes and are adjustable in length to move the subframes (30; 32) relative to one another to cause the upstanding portions to bear against a lower part of a bed to clamp the appliance to the bed - the upstanding portions (51) of one subframe (30) being adapted to receive the legs (26) of the second part of the appliance. An alternative form provides the framework as one or two metal plates (200, Fig. 3) fixable to the outside of the foot end of the base of the bed - with possibly two further metal plates (200') on the inner surface of the foot end of the base of the bed.
