The invention relates to a device (510) which disposes of an application mechanism (512) that directly or indirectly applies a liquid or pasty application medium (516) to a material web (520) made of, in particular, paper or paperboard. The inventive device comprises an element (570), which is arranged before the application mechanism (512) in the direction of movement (L) of the substrate (U) and which is provided for attenuating the air boundary layer (G) carried along by the substrate (U). To this end, the attenuating device can comprise a sealing element (570) which is pressed in a sealing manner against the substrate (U) and which rolls off the same with essentially no slippage, and/or the inventive device can comprise an electrode configuration and/or an ultrasound source and/or an elastic masking element that functions in a contactless manner.

L'invention concerne un dispositif (510) pour appliquer directement ou indirectement, à l'aide d'un système d'application (512), un milieu (516) d'enduction pâteux ou fluide sur une bande de matériau (520), notamment en papier ou en carton. Ce dispositif comprend, dans le sens de déplacement (L) du substrat (U) et en amont du système d'application (512), un dispositif (570) destiné à diminuer la couche limite d'air (G) entraînée par le substrat (U). L'invention est caractérisée en ce que ce dernier dispositif comporte un élément d'étanchéité (570), qui s'appuie contre le substrat (U) pour l'étanchéification et qui roule sur celui-ci pratiquement sans glisser. Ce dispositif peut également comprendre un dispositif d'électrode et/ou une source d'ultrasons et/ou un élément écran élastique agissant sans contact.
