An application development interface for developing multi-user applications executable over a distributed network. An object definition structure is provided for client-based definition of objects utilized by a multi-user application. The object definition includes characteristics associated with the object and utilized by the application to effect interaction with other clients over the distributed network. A broadcast schedule is associated with one or more of the characteristics and controls the transmission of object data from the creating client to other clients in the distributed network. During execution of the multi-user application, characteristics of the object are automatically updated periodically or upon the change of a charactistic relative to a preset threshold value, in accordance with values provided in the broadcast schedule. The object definition created by the client is used by all functions and processes within the multi-user application that utilize the object.
Interface servant à développer des applications pouvant être exécutées sur l'ensemble d'un réseau distribué. Une structure de définition d'objets sert à établir une définition basée client d'objets utilisés par une application multi-utilisateurs. Cette définition d'objets comprend des caractéristiques associées à l'objet et utilisées par l'application afin d'effectuer une interaction avec d'autres clients sur l'ensemble du réseau distribué. Un programme de diffusion est associé à une ou plusieurs de ces caractéristiques et contrôle la transmission de données d'objet du client créateur à d'autres clients du réseau distribué. Pendant l'exécution de cette application multi-utilisateurs, des caractéristiques de l'objet sont automatiquement mises à jour périodiquement ou au moment de la modification d'une caractéristique relative à une valeur de seuil prédéterminée selon des valeurs indiquées dans le programme de diffusion. La définition d'objets créée par le client est utilisée par la totalité des fonctions et des opérations de l'application multi-utilisateurs utilisant cet objet.
