17 Abstract The applicator has a reservoir (1) for nail polish, a brush (2), a chamber (3) formed inside a cap (27), with a liquid absorbing element (4) for cleaning the brush and ensuring that it is ready for use at all times, and a dosing device (5, 6, 7, 8) with a rotatable knob (5). A rotary movement of the knob (5) is translated into an axial movement of the piston (10) via a carrier rod (6) and a threaded hollow rod (7), whose outer thread (18) engages with an inner thread (19) of a fixed ring (8). Halting means (9) disposed in the rotatable knob allow a stepwise forwards movement of the piston (10), thus achieving a dosed delivery of nail polish to the brush (2). Another embodiment intends the reservoir with the brush and the cap which surrounds the brush and forms the chamber to be designed as a replacement unit which can be inserted in a housing in which the dosing device is disposed.
