16 Abstract The applicator for applying resins and lacquers comprises a jacket-shaped housing (31), a dosing device (5, 6, 7, 8) for the resins and lacquers with an operating element (5) and a replacement unit (32) which can be inserted into the housing (31) and removed again therefrom. The replacement unit consists of a reservoir (1), which is sealed with a longitudinally displaceable piston (10) and has a brush (2) on the side furthest from the piston, which brush may be covered with a cap (27). The latter has a cap insert (37) which projects into the cap and is designed so that when the cap (27) is in place there is as little hollow space as possible between the brush (2) and the inner surface of the insert part. Between the inner wall of the cap and the outer surface of the insert part (37) there is a spongy element (4) for absorbing a liquid for ensuring that the brush (2) is always ready for use. The piston (10) may be displaced stepwise along the reservoir (1) by means of the dosing device (5, 6, 7, 8). (Fig. 1)
