ABSTRACT An improved dauber for applying a spot of ink to an article at a desired location of the type which comprises an elongated hollow cylindrical reservoir body portion having a first end and a second end, said first end defining a relatively narrow through opening, said second end being sealed, and an applicator head sealingly fitted within said through opening adapted to transfer a flow of ink from within said reservoir body to a surface, the improvement comprising a porous foam ink spot applying element connected to said applicator head, said foam element having a partially cauterized and thus impervious surface layer whereby ink is permitted to flow therethrough through only a limited portion thereof.
