An applicator unit for use in applying a substance to a surface, the applicator unit (3) comprising: a body unit (17, 19) to which a container (5) is movably disposed; an outlet unit (57) which includes an applicator element (65) to which substance is dispensed; and a pump unit (71) which is operative to dispense substance to the applicator element on applying an actuation force to the container.
