An aquarium filter comprises a filter body (12) made of a material with a filtering function and adapted to divide the aquarium volume into a first and a second compartment (4, 6). The filter body is arranged to co-operate with a pump (14) arranged to displace water through the filter body (12) and into the second compartment and means (16) for returning filtered water in the second compartment to the first compartment. The filter is characterized in that the filter body is self-supporting, has a shape as to cover essentially the entire back wall of the aquarium, is so shaped as to form a natural decoration of the aquarium, and the surface of the filter body visible to a viewer of the aquarium is given a texture resembling natural material. This provides a filter that has a large filtering capacity, is easy to assemble and clean and has a pleasing appearance.

L'invention se rapporte à un filtre pour aquarium comportant un corps filtrant (12) fabriqué dans un matériau ayant une fonction de filtrage et conçu pour diviser le volume de l'aquarium en un premier et un second compartiment (4, 6). Ledit corps filtrant est conçu pour coopérer avec une pompe (14) conçue pour faire passer l'eau, par le corps filtrant (12), dans le second compartiment, et avec un organe (16) conçu pour renvoyer l'eau filtrée du second compartiment vers le premier compartiment. Ce filtre se caractérise en ce que le corps filtrant est indépendant, en ce qu'il possède une forme lui permettant de recouvrir sensiblement la totalité de la paroi arrière de l'aquarium, en ce qu'il présente une forme lui conférant l'aspect d'un objet décoratif naturel de l'aquarium, et en ce que la surface du corps filtrant pouvant être vue par un observateur présente une texture semblable à celle d'un matériau naturel. Ceci permet d'obtenir un filtre doté d'une grande capacité de filtrage, qu'il est facile d'assembler et de nettoyer et qui possède une apparence plaisante.
