An aquarium which includes a tank having a pump and an under gravel filter disposed in the tank below the pump and a sediment removal system for collecting and removing sediment which passes through the under gravel filter. The under gravel filter includes a hollow bubble dispersing base plate having a perforated top surface and an overlying substrate. An air conduit is provided for introducing air into the pump. The pump is connected to the plate such as to pump water and air into the interior of the plate to thereby cause oxygenated water and bubbles to exit upwardly through the perforated top surface of the plate and into and through the substrate. The pump includes a free floating magnetic impeller. A rotational torque generating unit is provided to rotate the impeller. The rotational torque generating unit includes a magnetic drive disk and a motor for rotating the magnetic drive disk. The pump and rotational torque generating unit are aligned with each other such that a magnetic field is established between the magnetic drive disk and the magnetic impeller, the magnetic field rotating upon rotation of the magnetic drive disk to thereby rotate the impeller.
L'invention concerne un aquarium comprenant une cuve équipée d'une pompe et d'un filtre sous gravier disposé dans la cuve au-dessous de la pompe, et un système d'élimination des sédiments destiné à collecter et à éliminer les sédiments qui traversent le filtre sous gravier. Le filtre sous gravier comprend une plaque de base creuse émettant des bulles, présentant une surface supérieure perforée et un substrat la recouvrant. Un conduit d'air est mis en place pour introduire de l'air dans la pompe. La pompe est reliée à la plaque de façon à pomper de l'eau et de l'air dans l'intérieur de la plaque afin de faire ainsi sortir vers le haut de l'eau oxygénée et des bulles à travers la surface supérieure perforée de la plaque et de leur faire pénétrer et traverser le substrat. La pompe comprend une roue magnétique flottant librement. Une unité génératrice de couple rotatif est mise en place pour faire tourner la roue. L'unité génératrice de couple rotatif comprend un disque d'entraînement magnétique et un moteur servant à faire tourner le disque d'entraînement magnétique. La pompe et l'unité génératrice de couple rotatif sont alignées l'une avec l'autre de sorte qu'un champ magnétique est établi entre le disque d'entraînement magnétique et la roue magnétique, le champ magnétique tournant avec la rotation du disque d'entraînement magnétique pour faire ainsi tourner la roue.
