AQUEOUS-BASED COATING COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING WATER-INSOLUBLE RESIN ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Aqueous-based coating compositions having about 10 to about 60 parts by weight of a coating-grade water-insoluble resin; an effective amount of a curing agent for the resin; about 10 to 30 parts by weight of at least one water- miscible solvent having a Hansen solubility parameter greater than 9.4 and a Hansen hydrogen bonding solubility parameter greater than 4.5, and water wherein the ratio by volume of the water to the solvent is at least 0.1. The compositions are useful as primers and coatings in applications requiring low volatile organic chemicals.
