An aqueous coating composition comprises a) an organic polymer in aqueous solution which carries free or neutralized acid groups, or free and neutralized acid groups, and b) a crosslinker of the structural formula I (see fig. I) where R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently are hydrogen or alkyls, aryls and/or aralkyls of 1 to 24 C atoms, or mixtures of two or more thereof, X is oxygen, sulfur and/or -N(R5)-, where R5 is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl of 1 to 24 C atoms or is hydrogen and Z is an n-functional alkyl, aryl or aralkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by further groups, and n is a number which is at least 2, wherein the molar mass of the crosslinker is below 10,000.

Une composition de revêtement aqueuse renferme a) un polymère organique en solution aqueuse, portant des groupes acides, libres ou neutralisés, ou des groupes acides, libres et neutralisés, b) un réticulant de formule structurelle I (voir fig.
