An aqueous coating composition having a pH of 6.0-10.0 and having a VOC of less than 0.24 kg/l (2.0 pounds/gallon) comprises 30% to 70% by weight of film- forming binder and correspondingly 70% to 30% by weight of an aqueous liquid carrier for the binder; wherein the binder comprises (a) 20% to 95% by weight, based on the weight of the binder, of a carbamate reaction product formed by the reaction of (1) an aliphatic polyisocyanate, (2) a monohydric alcohol, (3) a hydroxy functional aliphatic carboxylic acid and (4) a polyalkylene ether glycol having a number average molecular weight of 100 to 2,000; said reaction product being further reacted with an amine to provide a water-dispersible product; (b) 5% to 80% by weight, based on the weight of the binder, of a water-compatible alkylated melamine formaldehyde crosslinking agent.
L'invention concerne une composition aqueuse de revêtement qui présente un pH compris entre 6 et 10 et une teneur en COV inférieure à 0,24 kg/l (2,0 livres/gallon), qui contient entre 30 % et 70 % en poids de liant filmogène et, de façon correspondante, entre 70 % et 30 % en poids d'un excipient liquide aqueux pour liant. Ledit liant contient : (a) de 20 % à 95 % en poids, par rapport au poids du liant, d'un produit de réaction de carbamate obtenu par la mise en réaction (1) d'un polyisocyanate aliphatique, (2) d'un alcool monohydrique, (3) d'un acide carboxylique aliphatique fonctionnel hydroxy et (4) d'un éther de polyalkylène glycol présentant un poids moléculaire moyen en nombre compris entre 100 et 2000, ce produit de réaction étant ensuite mis à réagir avec une amine pour former un produit dispersible dans l'eau ; (b) de 5 % à 80 % en poids, par rapport au poids du liant, d'un agent de réticulation mélamine-formaldéhyde alkylé compatible avec l'eau.
