The present invention relates to acid-curing aqueous coating compositions, in particular for the coating of veneer films and continuous edges, containing an amino resin and a hydroxyl-containing polyester which is (sic) obtainable from a) 30 to 50 mol% of a mixture comprising a1) 50 to 100 mol% of saturated, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, a2) 0 to 50 mol% of olefinically unsaturated, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, a3) 0 to 50 mol% of aromatic dicarboxylic acids, a4) 0 to 50 mold of diisocyanate and b) 70 to 30 mol% of a mixture comprising b1) 10 to 60 mold of at least one monomeric and/or oligomeric glycol having 2 to 4 C atoms per -42- glycol segment and number-average molecular weights of less than or equal to 200, b2) 10 to 60 mold of at least one diol having 4 to 10 C atoms per molecule, with the exception of the abovementioned glycols and, b3) 0 to 70 mold of at least one polyol having on average 3 to 6 OH groups per molecule and a number-average molecular weight of less than or equal to 1000.
