Abstract An aqueous coating composition comprising from 45 to 98 parts by weight (solids) of aqueous resin(s) and from 2 to 55 parts by weight (solids) of finely divided water- insoluble resin(s), in which at least a part of solid aqueous resin is selected from amphoteric resins having both carboxyl and amino groups. The resins may have mutually reactive functional groups.
