The present invention relates to an aqueous concentrate of an associative thickening polymer, the concentrate containing a nonionic surfactant as viscosity-reducing agent. The nonionic surfactant is water- soluble and has formula (1), wherein R is an alkyl group having 6-12 carbon atoms and AO is an ethyleneoxy or propyleneoxy group, the ratio of the ethyleneoxy groups to the total number of ethyleneoxy and pi-opyleneoxy groups being from 1:2 to 5:6, and a is a number between 7 and 16. The presence of a small amount of the nonionic surfactant results in a surprisingly great reduction of the viscosity, which permits the formulation of concentrates having high percentages of the associative polymer without negatively affecting the properties when the concentrate is used for thickening purposes.
La présente invention concerne un concentré aqueux d'un polymère épaississant associatif, lequel concentré renferme un tensioactif non-ionique qui permet de réduire la viscosité. Le tensioactif non-ionique est soluble dans l'eau et correspond à la formule (I) dans laquelle R est un groupe alkyle avec 6-12 atomes de carbone et AO un groupe éthylèneoxy ou propylèneoxy, le rapport entre les groupes éthylèneoxy et le nombre total de groupes éthylèneoxy et propylèneoxy allant de 1:2 à 5:6, a étant un nombre compris entre 7 et 16. La présence d'une faible dose de tensioactif non-ionique entraîne une diminution étonnamment importante de la viscosité, ce qui permet d'obtenir des concentrés à forte teneur en polymère associatif sans en compromettre les propriétés lorsque ce concentré est utilisé comme agent épaississant.
