ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is an aqueous dispersion of an ionically crosslinked ethylene/.alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer displaying improved stability and viscosity. The dispersion comprises a mixture of two ethylene/ .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymers or metal salts thereof having different average contents of .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid units. The dispersion is useful as a coating material.
