An aqueous dispersion includes an associative thickener based on a hydrophobically modified poly(acetal- or ketal-polyether) (HM-PAPE) and at least one viscosity reducing agent selected from ethoxylated alcohols, ethoxylated acetyleneic diols, phosphate esters, dialkyl sulfosuccinates, and mixtures thereof. This aqueous dispersion improves the incorporation of the HM- PAPEs into aqueous based protective coatings. This dispersion also improves water-borne coating compositions that optionally contain latex.

L'invention concerne une dispersion aqueuse comprenant un épaississant associatif à base de poly(acétal- ou cétal-polyéther) (HM-PAPE) modifié sur le plan hydrophobe et au moins un agent réducteur de la viscosité sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant des alcools éthoxylés, des diols acétyléniques éthoxylés, des esters de phosphate, des sulfosuccinates de dialkyle et des mélanges de ces éléments. Cette dispersion aqueuse permet d'améliorer l'incorporation des HM-PAPE dans des revêtements de protection à base d'eau. Cette dispersion permet également d'améliorer des compositions de revêtement à base d'eau qui contiennent éventuellement du latex.
