Abstract. An aqueous dispersion type coating material containing as a film forming constituent an aqueous dispersion that can be obtained by making contacted with an aqueous medium under the presence of base substance a resin reactant with acid value at 10 to 30 which can be obtained by reacting a water soluble epoxy-denatured alkyd resin with an epoxy resin in solid state at ordinary temperature and by adding and polymerizing at least a part of these resins has been disclosed. Because this coating material has been emulsified in a translucent colloidal emulsion region within an aqueous medium, its finished appearance and corrosion resistance are superior and its structural viscosity can be controlled without damaging the storage stability through the addition of organic solvents, and the excellent finished appearance can also be obtained by the atomization coating in addition to the immersion coating, flow coating and the like of vertical areas, and this coating material has the applicability to a variety of coating methods.
