ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An aqueous dispersion of a self-crosslinking acrylic polymer is provided which is the aqueous emulsion polymerization product of a particular monomer mixture including both glycidyl and hydroxyl group-containing addition polymerizable monomers. Water-based thermosetting compositions are also provided which are based upon these aqueous dispersions and a strong basic catalyst such as a tetra-alkylammonium hydroxide. These thermosetting composition are particularly suitable for use in formulating agueous coatings for general industrial use.
