Synthetic dispersions in aqueous media are described in which the synthetic material is a polyure- thane or a polyurethane urea containing per 100 g of the polymeric material, 5-30 milli-equivalents of anionic or cationic groups linked directly to the polymeric struc- ture. The core of the synthetic material is composed of an aliphatic polyetherdiol which is assuring the flexibi- lity of the polymeric material and also the polyisocya- nate component is selected in a way that it does not introduce a considerable content of rigid segments. The dispersions can be used for the genera- tion of sealing junctions, e.g. of a variety of objects, whereby the sealing junction displays a high elongation, a low modulus of elasticity and a good elastic recovery. Thus, a certain displacement in space of the objects linked through said sealing juncture is possible, with a transmission of the forces from one object to the other being as low as possible, without formation of cracks in the sealant and without the formation of cracks in the connected objects itselves.
