-41- 2583B Title: AQUEOUS FUNCTIONAL FLUIDS ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a composition comprising at least one reaction product of (A) at least one hydro- carbyl-substituted carboxylic acylating agent having at least three carboxylic groups, with (B) at least one amine- terminated polyoxyalkylene, having a number average molecu- lar weight from about 600 to about 10,000, or at least one salt of the reaction product. Functional fluids formulated with these reaction products or salts thereof have suffi- cient and stable viscosity for use in hydraulic, cutting, metal working and other lubricating fluids.
