The invention provides an aqueous hair styling aid comprising a volatile silicone selected from cyclic silicones having the general formula (I): [(CH3)2Si-O-]n wherein n = 3 - 7, and short chain linear silicones having the general formula (II): (CH3)3Si-O-[Si(CH3)2O]n Si(CH3)3, wherein n = 1 - 7; together with hairstyling polymer, surfactant and at least 5 % water.
