A method for manufacturing aqueous hydrides comprising a reaction which does not require precise stoichiometric proportions of metal, alkali hydroxide and water. Metal pieces (22) are added to tank (11). The specific gravity of the reaction mixture is monitored by hydrometer (21) and adjusted where appropriate during the reaction process. Temperature and rate of reaction are controlled to prevent formation of silicates. An apparatus system (10) which is suitable for carrying out the process includes a circulating reactor with a false bottom tank (11). An opening (12) in the tank (11) allows for release of steam during the reaction. Tank (11) also has an opening or drain (13) positioned at the bottom of tank (11). The apparatus also includes pump (14), mixer (16) and heat exchanger (17). Water source (18) and caustic source (19) provide for water and caustic.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'hydrures aqueux, au cours duquel intervient une réaction, et qui ne nécessite pas des proportions stoechiométriques précises de métal, d'hydroxyde alcalin et d'eau. Des pièces métalliques (22) sont ajoutées dans une cuve (11). La densité du mélange de réaction est contrôlée par hydromètre (12) et ajustée, au moment approprié, lors du processus de réaction. La température et la vitesse de réaction sont régulées pour empêcher la formation de silicates. Le système de l'appareil (10), propre à exécuter le procédé, comprend un réacteur de circulation et une cuve à faux fond (11). Une ouverture (12) ménagée dans la cuve (11) permet de libérer la vapeur lors de la réaction. Le fond de la cuve (11) comporte également une ouverture ou drain (13). L'appareil comprend une pompe (14), un mélangeur (16) et un échangeur thermique (17). Une source d'eau (18) et une source de caustique (19) pourvoient à l'alimentation en eau et en caustique.
