The invention describes an aqueous monomer/polymer system in which monomers including on the one hand polymerization initiators such as diacyl peroxides or others and on the other hand polymerization activators such as tertiary arylaliphatic amines or others are incorporated into an aqueous polymer dispersion with swelling. Individually and in a mixture, the individual monomer/polymer components are stable on storage. Curing (polymerization) begins only after the water has evaporated from the dispersion, in the course of its filming. The aqueous monomer/polymer systems are used as binders for road marking paints, floor coating compositions, coating materials and sealing compositions.
