The invention relates to an aqueous paint composition, particularly a lacquer or a varnish and an aqueous colloidal dispersion of cerium. Said dispersion has a pH of at least 7 and comprises an organic acid with at least three acid functions of which the third pK is at most 10 or a salt of said acid with ammonia or an amine. Said composition has an improved water content and mechanical properties which improve throughout the life thereof or the duration of the presence thereof on the substrate for protection.

L'invention concerne une composition à base d'une peinture aqueuse, notamment d'une lasure ou d'un vernis, et d'une dispersion colloïdale aqueuse de cérium, cette dispersion présentant un pH d'au moins (7) et comprenant un acide organique ayant au moins trois fonctions acides et dont le troisième pk est d'au plus (10) ou un sel de cet acide, et de l'ammoniaque ou une amine.Cette composition présente une tenue à l'eau et une tenue mécanique qui sont améliorées, ce qui augmente ainsi sa durée de vie ou la durée de sa présence sur le substrat qu'elle protège.
