ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A polyurethane/asphalt emulsion blend is prepared by mixing together an emulsion of a specific polyurethane with a specific amount of asphalt emulsion. The polyurethane emulsion is prepared by mixing the polyurethane with water and an emulsifier additive, followed by addition of aqueous acid and subsequent stripping of sufficient water and solvent to give a polyurethane solid containing emulsion. That emulsion is mixed with an asphalt emulsion so as to provide about 1- 65% by weight asphalt solids in the final polyurethane- asphalt emulsion blend. The blend provides an auto underbody coating which does not require heat-curing and which has superior wet abrasion resistance and impact noise reduction.
