ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Release coating compositions for pressure sensitive adhesive articles arc prepared from a hydrocolloid stabilized aqueous emulsion of a crosslinkable vinyl type polymer and a release promoting compound, wherein the hydrocolloid is the main emulsifier or protective colloid. The release coating compositions herein are characterized by remaining migration- free without the use of an organic solvent and by their ability to be readily separated from the adhesive layer without con- taminating the same.
